Encores from 7 Cities - Scholarships
One of our missions is to support talent we encounter during our residencies. Often, for foreign students, Europe is a distant and unreachable world. They wonder what studying music in one of its lustrous musical capitals could be like, or what the great concert halls and the most famous artists sound like.
We have established a programme, with generous support from the Borletti-Buitoni Trust, that provides carefully selected students from abroad with a two-month journey divided between London, Paris, Berlin and Vienna, with travel expenses covered, accommodation provided by host families, lessons from faculty of some of the top music schools in the four cities, as well as tickets for a number of outstanding performances selected from the rich cultural offering there.
The initial recipients are Dané van Graan (21) and Isaac van der Merwe (22), from Cape Town, who will be travelling through Europe from April 6th to June 1st, 2026. They will work with faculty from The Royal College of Music, Conservatoire National Superieur de Paris, Ecole Normale Alfred Cortot, Hans Eisler Hoschule, and attend concerts ranging from recitals at Wigmore Hall to the Berliner Philharmoniker.
Congratulations, Dané and Isaac, and welcome to Europe!
